Which Essential Oil Diffuser Should I Buy?

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

Sharing is caring!

If you’re anything like me, you’ve researched and know and understand the great things essential oils can do for us. It is important to keep in mind that the things we put in our bodies have lasting effects, therefore, it is imperative that we know exactly the kind of things in the oils (or any products) we use. This post isn’t about which oils to buy, but as for my family, we use Young Living essential oils and other products.

Young Living Opportunity

If you would like to learn more about Young Living and what it has to offer, please check it out. I can also answer any questions you may have about the company or the products they offer. You’ll get the same discounts as me, purchasing items at wholesale cost versus retail. You’ll want to choose the Member option, not the Retail Customer option.

Essential Oil Usage

Did you know that you could use essential oils in three main ways? Many of Young Living’s essential oils can be used topically, internally, and aromatically. Essential oils, when distilled properly, can be very potent. You have to be cautious when you’re using them, so it is best to research any oil you are thinking about trying. Anyway, my family’s been using essential oils for more than five years. I could write about the many benefits all day long, but what I’m focusing on today is sharing a diffuser with you that our family has had much success with.

Not Dissing Young Living

You may be thinking that if Young Living sells the oils, surely they sell diffusers, too. Certainly! In fact, if I wanted to sell you the oils, I’d be pitching for you to purchase the Premium Starter Kit, which includes 11 of the best-selling oils, other samples, as well as a diffuser. (This is the best deal in the world, so if you’re interested in oils AND a diffuser, click here to be directed to the sign-up page! Use ID number 1605892 for both Sponsor and Enroller number.) However, a diffuser on its own can be pretty spendy if purchased from Young Living, and I realize that it may not be the best option for most folks.

Why Diffuse Oils?

As mentioned above, one can benefit from essential oils in three ways. Using oils topically allows the oil to get into the bloodstream quickly. Internal use also allows the oils into our cells at a rapid rate. Diffusers are able to disperse essential oil molecules effectively as a mist throughout the air. In this fashion, our bodies are able to absorb the oils using our respiratory system, maximizing the beneficial properties of the oils. Diffusing oils has been my family’s favorite way to use the oils. The sense of smell is the best way to change your home’s atmosphere. Breathing in the oils is the most effective way for our bodies to reap the therapeutic benefits of the oil.

Diffusing Oils ~ Facts

* Using a diffuser that heats the oils, essentially takes away the beneficial properties of that oil. It’s best to find a cool-air diffuser.

* Investigate Ultrasonic Diffusers. Ultrasonic diffusion combines the advantages of a humidifier, air purifier, atomizer, and aromatherapy diffuser into one by breaking a mixture of essential oils and water into tiny particles and putting them into the air.

* Diffusing oils can promote quality sleep, help with seasonal irritants, elevate moods, eliminate odors, and much, much more! Certain oils can be diffused to keep certain insects at bay. The benefits are too many to name.

* Looking for some diffuser blends? Wondering which oils pair nicely together? Check out this blog post!

No Diffuser?

Having a diffuser (or several) in your home is my advice. Truth be told, we have one in each bedroom, bathroom, and in the kitchen. However, I realize that it’s not always a feasible option for every family. If you don’t have a diffuser, please don’t worry. As long as you have the oil, you can inhale the oil from the bottle, or simply put a few drops on your hands and cup your hands around your mouth and nose. You can breathe the oils in this way. You can even add a few drops of oil to hot water and inhale the vapor. (Be sure the water isn’t boiling hot.) Diffusers make the process easier, and you’re breathing in the oils without having to think about it. Besides, it makes your house smell divine and others benefit from the oils as well! It’s a win-win!

Diffuser Options

A simple online search will bring up several diffusers to choose from. If you love Young Living and have the money to purchase a diffuser from them, I would definitely recommend their diffusers. We have three diffusers from Young Living, as well as several USB diffusers from them. However, when we felt like we wanted to add more to our home, we found one online that we really like.

Narrowing The Search

After doing my own research, I knew that we needed a cool-mist diffuser and that it should also be ultrasonic. I was looking for one that wasn’t going to break our bank but was also not the cheapest one on the market. Lastly, I was looking for one that would stay on through the night. (The ones we had at the time only lasted for about 3 hours.) The choices can be overwhelming. Check out my favorite option!

Hmm! Funny how I have never really given much considerations to the thought of getting a diffuser for my homes. Reading through this post, I couldn’t just help but marvel at how great the benefits of making use of a diffuser. Is. I guess it is high time I secured one for me and the family. Hey, Tracy!  Thanks for stopping by!  I seriously have diffusers all over the house!  They’re so nice to have.  We use them all the time, and especially at night in the bedrooms.  We like to use Young Living oils and it’s fun to mix them to see what smells we can create!  The great thing is – the oils are all good for us, so we aren’t afraid to diffuse away!  Good luck with yours!  🙂

Young living is nothing near a bad idea at all and I’m really digging it. Having the essential oil inhaled can really be the best way to get the oil into the system. Having read this post,i have a broader understanding of what the essential oil is, the different ways it can be used and the reason why it helps. I also learnt different ways it can be used and why the use of a diffuser is good. I have not thought aboutthe diffuser before, ill just buy it from the company you spoke about, young living. Thanks!

I have heard quite a lot concerning the essential oils of young living and their kits but it feels good knowing it was not all hyped up and actually that, it is good. Firstly, I do not realise that the diffusers has these much functions and I am just coming a across some things here. I do not have any at home as of now but definitely I would be getting a couple to put at every spot in my home. The effects of essential oil is great to our health and it is only normal to make use of a diffuser to always ensure that one inhales it almost evey time. Thanks for your suggestion concerning the diffuser. I will check it out and try to cop some for my home. Thanks

I love oils and I use them on a daily basis to treat my headache. I’ve been thinking of getting the diffuser so that I can work while smelling the oil’s lovely scent but out of curiosity, does it work as good as rubbing the oil itself? I’m old schooled so I’m used to the old ways but the diffuser would be a fine addition 😀

    1. admin says:

Hey there!  I love that you’re using essential oils, but am sad that you have headaches!  I can totally relate, though.  I’ve used oils topically for years.  What I like about the diffuser is that you have longer-lasting effects.  When applied topically, it gets into our bloodstream quicker, but it doesn’t last as long, I’ve found.  I like to pair the topical use with the aromatic of the diffuser!  Best of luck to you!  Grab a diffuser and try it out!  If you have any other questions, I’d love to help you!  Have a great day!  Blessings.  🙂

Quite an interesting topic. I’ve been using essential oils for my place with a diffuser bought in Chile. It’s nice, but sometimes it’s hard to feel the smell. I never tried Young Living. Do you think they dispatch their products worldwide? Would love to give them a try. What kind of smell do you like most? I personally love Eucalyptus and lavanda. Thanks for your article and sharing what you like 🙂

    1. admin says:

  8. T.K. says:

I never knew that diffusers that use heat are detrimental to the oil itself, so that is good to know. An Ultrasonic diffuser sounds like a good option because it adds the benefits of a humidifier which is a must for a house full of allergy sufferers. Do you have a recommendation for an essential oil that promotes relaxation? Thanks.

    1. admin says:

It’s odd to me that companies sell diffusers that are not cool mist and ultrasonic.  Heat can destroy some of the qualities of the oils; it’s best to avoid those that include heating elements.  Young Living offers a ton of oils for promoting relaxation.  Some of my favorites are Lavender, Peace and Calming, and Stress Away.  Please check them out – if you have any questions, I’d love to help!  Cheers!

I’ve come across an article about  oil diffuser but it wasn’t as detailed as this is and definitely not educating as this article is. My aunt have up to 4 diffusers in her house and she finds comfort in using them. I now understand the benefits of diffuser just by reading this post, maybe I’ll consider getting one to myself and I’ll check out Young Living essential oils too. Thank do this educating article, I’ve really learn a lot.

    1. admin says:

Yes!  Please do look into both a diffuser and Young Living!  One of the benefits of signing up with a Young Living account is that you have the option to get a diffuser from the company!  Please check out the link I posted in the article.  If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!  My family and I have had loads of success using products from Young Living.  I advocate for them fully.  Blessings!

My children and I recently went to a local festival here in our community, and I wandered up to an interesting booth that ended up focusing on essential oils.  There was a very nice couple who were very enthusiastic about the oils and their medicinal properties.  I learned so much that day about their benefits, and wow I was amazed with what they told me.  I’ve been wanting to get a diffuser, and so I’m so happy I came across this article and your site.  You have cleared up many of my questions.  Thank you so much.

Essential oils are contained in vegetables and thanks to their composition they have a variety of properties that we can take advantage of. They get to work in our body thanks to the complex and powerful chemical composition.

For what you recommend I would like to try diffuse oils due to a lot of benefits that it can offer us. I will check before and save this page to make the purchase.

    Thank you very much. Claudio

I love Young Living oils a lot and wouldn’t use any other! They work and they are not really expensive. Young Living actually rewards customers with points back on every order (to spend on free product or oils) and they also give you free promotions every month as well as free oils every 3 months just for being on their reward program, I love YL.

    Nice write-up.

    1. admin says:

Jordan!  Thank you for validating Young Living!  I’m so happy to hear you love them!  I love their Essenial Rewards program!  What are your favorite diffuser combinations?

  14. Aly says:

Thanks for this list to help narrow down ideas for picking out a diffuser for essential oils. The fragrances smell so good when diffused through the air, but there are so many different diffusers that it can be overwhelming to find one that is both pretty and easy to use. I prefer one that does not have any indicator lights glowing when it’s turned on, as I like to use them at night and don’t want the diffuser to light up the room when I’m trying to rest.

    1. admin says:

I completely agree with you on the lights!  Every one I own has the ability to have no lights, which I also prefer at night!  On the contrary,  my kiddos like to choose their color of preference each night!  🙂
