Tip Tuesday! – Home School & Work From Home!

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this post.

Is it even possible to both home school my children AND work from home? I never thought it could be done. I didn’t know how I would jump into homeschooling our two kiddos and try to earn some income online simultaneously. There are days when I still don’t think it’s possible, but I’m sure giving it an honest effort! Take a peek at what I’m doing and how I can fit it into my day.

Women = Multi-Taskers = Super Heroes

I believe most women in general have the ability to function with more than a million mental tabs open all at once. If we are lucky, we were wired to be able to multi-task. Granted, we don’t all admit we have this gift, but I do take pride in my ability to do several things at once, and usually, efficiently. I mean as a mom, one has to be able to listen to 4-5 conversations all at once, sync all sorts of calendars, cook, clean, and take care of loose odds and ends. We get used to the shuffle. To be able to stay at home with my kiddos is a privilege in itself. How am I able to spend the necessary time tending to my kiddos’ learning and have the time to work on my side gig? Balance.

Top Five Tips To Successfully Home School & Work From Home

1- Creating priorities should be high on the list for any mama who is staying at home with her kiddos and is responsible for their education. In our little world, my number one priority is my children. Their learning takes the front seat in our box on wheels! As long as I remember they’re my number one, we all accomplish so much in our day!

2- Be flexible. Things come up. I get that. We have interruptions all day long in our house. As someone who usually thrives with planning and a schedule, I’ve learned that if we’re going to make this homeschooling thing work, I have to be flexible for the kiddos. They deserve it. Schedules are sometimes too rigid and when followed, can be detrimental to the learning that goes on. (I’m not suggesting schedules are terrible, especially if it works for you and your kiddos. Everyone is different.) I wrote about routines last week. If you’re interested, you may read about it here. I’ve learned that my kiddos need the flexibility, so I aim to give them that.

3- Get organized. This is an easy one for me. I am a list maker and goal setter. I like to make lists on Sunday nights to outline our week, both for school and work. This helps me to stay on track and be better focused for each day. Sometimes, I’ll add things to the list throughout the week, and it’s okay. I desire to stick as closely to the list as possible, so I’m learning it’s beneficial for me to take a few minutes to prepare a checklist.

4- Dedicate times to work that don’t conflict with key-learning times. When it’s time for school, we work on school. I do my best not to mix my work with teaching time. The kiddos need one-on-one attention and deserve my presence to guide them in their learning. We tend to start our day early, as we’re all early birds, which allows us to be just about finished with our academics by lunchtime. The afternoon is for playing, experimenting, and learning independently. I choose to do the majority of my work at night once the kids are in bed, or early in the morning before they wake. It’s working well so far!

5- Choose a side gig you enjoy. You’ll never be able to effectively create success in your side business if you’re not enjoying it. The tasks will soon tire you and you’ll feel dragged down and defeated. Try to find something that makes you happy to work on it. Find an outlet where you can be yourself and happy. It should feel like a break and not bog you down. I look forward to getting up in the morning to work on my side hustle!

Curious About My Side Hustle?

I’m so excited to share it with you! I will admit, I was a lucky one who stumbled upon a simple review, and it changed my life for the better. Quickly, let me share with you that I spent several weeks researching the best option to make money online, only to come up empty-handed. It was a rewarding search though, as I learned a lot. However, it wasn’t until I found Wealthy Affiliate that I knew I fell into a potential pot-of-gold.

Wealthy Affiliate. Huh?

It is true. Never in a million years have I pictured myself as an affiliate marketer. Up until 32 days ago, I never even knew what those words meant! What I did know was this: I needed to find something to supplement our income. I knew taking surveys, transcribing inaudible audio, being someone’s virtual assistant, or participating in market research would only get me so far. In fact, I tried them all. Honestly. I spent the most time transcribing. It was the hardest money I’ve ever had to make, and it took me away from my family. That is the opposite of what I was yearning for.

As I mentioned above, I learned about Wealthy Affiliate from someone’s blog post. I had never heard of it, but the sounds of it got my wheels turning in the cobwebbed brain. I decided to research further. Upon liking what I saw, I joined their platform with a FREE account and began learning all about beginning an online business.

Wealthy Affiliate Stole My Attention

in the best ways possible! Learning what I learned from joining with a free account, I knew it was meant for me to find. I quickly realized that it was something I needed to pursue, for my family and myself. I discuss Wealthy Affiliate in greater detail on my other website. Please check it out here. I’ve Already Climbed Mountains

The training, tutorials, and the help from the WA community has given me the opportunity to broaden a horizon I never knew existed. In just one month, I’ve created two websites, this one you’re reading from, and this one. I’ve met a ton of terrific like-minded folks, and I am free to engage in the WA community, who will all drop what they’re doing just so they can help you out. In fact, the owners of the company, Kyle and Carson, are both very present within the platform as well. The milestones I’ve met in a month are giving me the necessary motivation I need to continue down this path to passive income. Can you imagine earning money while you’re sleeping? That’s my end goal! Won’t you let me help you achieve it, too?

Now that I’ve spilled all the marbles, I’d love to help you learn how to achieve financial freedom by becoming an affiliate marketer. You’re free to do your own research; I did. Thank you for your genuine words. I’ve not lost focus, which has helped me get to this point. Also, the kiddos have made this a challenge some days, but the majority of our time at home is spent together. To me, that’s really all that matters. Thanks again for taking time out of your day to read and respond. Blessings!

One of WA’s strong points is that it keeps all the tools that you require grouped together which can save you vast amounts of time. Having kids myself I can totally feel how hard it can be with them around and working at the same time so being able to use your time efficiently is of great importance.

I totally agree about WA having everything we need readily available.  I’m working on trying to be more intentional with my time, as there are so many distractions in life!  My commitment level has me focused!  Thanks for commenting!  I appreciate it!  Blessings!

Hey, Dee!  It definitely began as a super juggle,  that’s for certain!  Once I figured out my priorities though, it became more manageable. I do love the idea of passive income, so that’s my end goal!! Thank you for encouraging me to continue this path!  Blessings to you!

I don’t know how old your kids are but there are tons of learning programs that can help take some of the teaching load off your hands and allow you to focus more on your business – do things like keyword research and post resourcing, image searches and more between subjects if they are smaller.  We had two older kids in-home studies last year and I was surprised at how many things were out there to help aid them in learning to source their own solutions to problems they faced.

Mothers are really trying, we should commend their efforts every time because they are really sacrificing a lot for their kids and for their family, giving up on their own dream in order to please that of their family isn’t so easy for them to do and I must say they are truly divine. The 5 tips are very useful and will be of help to other mothers too. A cogent knowledge to get from this post for mothers is that being a full time mom doesn’t stop you from making money to assist your family, just as she said in the article, there are many platforms online that pays as much as can sustain an average even millionaire, Choose the one your mind goes with, legit, understanding and register. The best recommendation is still Wealthy Affiliate, check it out. Its nice reading through.

Hi, Jones!  Thanks for weighing in!  Moms have it rough, but I also recognize the battles fathers must face in their day-to-day while out trying to provide for the entire family. I agree about there being several platforms, but fully recommend Wealthy Affiliate. It sounds like that is your choice as well!  Best of luck to you!  Thanks for your kind words!  🙂 Cheers!

I agree with you for the idea that being a multi-tasking person no matter at home or workplaces, and the key I believe is time management! Either to follow the plan strictly or to be flexible with the current mood both work well for home school. I like the idea that you take a step forward chasing the dream of making money from home and writing an article for us – the followers to read and feel motivated. I think it’s great to see someone with the likely-minded to share anything for being an affiliate marketer. Anyway, love this post and it does inspire me for the way toward success in the near future!

    1. admin says:

Hey, Matt!  Thanks for stopping by! Time management is crucial. You’re right. Regarding schedules or routines, it is really up to each person to decide what’s best or what works, right?  In fact, things vary so much from day to day, we almost have to at least pretend to be flexible. 🙂  Blessings to you!  Have a great day!
