Is Affiliate Marketing A Scam or Legit?

Affiliate Marketing?

Raise your hand if you’re new to this world of online marketing, etc. Pick me! I’m just an infant in this process, but I can offer a bit of what I’m finding out on my journey.  I’ve done a little searching and hopefully what I’ve found will help you as well.

Legit?

You’re skeptical. I can tell. I know it because I was too. In fact, I still am. But it has to be a real thing, right?  It seems as though people are making money (gobs of money) by becoming affiliate marketers.  Since everything on the Internet is 100% true, well then, I guess we can believe everything we read, no?  Let’s take a look-see.

What Is An Affiliate?

According to lexico.com, affiliate marketing is A marketing arrangement by which an online retailer pays commission to an external website for traffic or sales generated from its referrals. Therefore, if you become an affiliate, you are essentially: A person or organization officially attached to a larger body. Basically, through your website, you send a customer to a merchant’s website. If said customer purchases the item you’re promoting, you get a commission for the new referral.  Sounds legit to me!  I’ll continue my research though, just to be sure.

How I’m Using Affiliate Marketing

If you’ve been following my blog posts or read about me from my website, you’ll already have noticed that I’m changing up my career path and am now a stay at home mom. As stated above, I am extremely new to this whole world of online opportunities and possibilities. I will not lie and say I’ve made millions in my first week researching my options. Heck, I can’t even tell you I have earned a penny. Truth is, I haven’t. Do I hope to?  You bet. I’d like to earn millions of pennies. What I’m learning is that creating a lucrative business through affiliate marketing is going to take time. I’m working on the foundation and have high hopes of my initial hard work becoming fruitful in the months and years to come. Read about it here.

Good Plan In Theory

The outline seems like something I can handle.  In fact, I have crossed many things off the list already.  There is a lot left to learn.  I’ve gotten information on affiliate programs, and I have to learn how to utilize them.  Chances are, I’ll encounter many roadblocks from here out.  I’m working diligently to learn all I can from others to make sure I create a successful base.  Could my whole plan bust?  Yep.  I’m going to work hard to make sure I do all things necessary so that doesn’t happen.  Could it turn into a success?  Sure!  That’s what I’m working towards.

Final Thoughts

Are there scams out there?  Absolutely.  It’s up to each person to do the research and see if it’s worth it or not.  I do believe affiliate marketing can be a legit way to earn an income. I also believe that it will take time. I’m beginning this journey with high hopes. Leave a comment about what you know of affiliate marketing. Are you an affiliate?
